SLOVAKIA – Nicole and Nina

Nicole and Nina founded the association European Potential. They are both law students at the University of Trnava in Slovakia.

Through civic association European Potential, they aim to raise awareness about the European Union, its values, principles and priorities. The association addresses young people directly to share information about the opportunities the EU has to offer, including grants, subsidies, EU funds and various kinds of projects, internships and exchanges. European Potential uses social networks and events to disseminate this information and motivate young people to become active and engaged citizens.

As well as organising discussions with representatives of European institutions and organisations, European Potential also leads workshops in secondary schools, helping pupils to understand the EU, its bodies and their roles and powers. Participants learn about the importance of elections and civic engagement, and develop their creative thinking, presentation and teamwork skills.

Nina and Nicole established the association to address the lack of accurate information about the EU and its institutions in their community. Many Slovak students have no idea about the opportunities the EU has to offer, including internships at European institutions.

Through their passion, determination and strong belief in the power of informed citizenship, Nicole and Nina are paving the way for a more informed and engaged community within their university and on together.eu.
